NBA charges members to uphold nobility of the legal profession

The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Abuja branch has reiterated the commitment of the members of the NBA to implementing the rule of law while maintaining the nobility of the profession.

This was disclosed during a general meeting at the NBA Headquarters in Abuja on Friday.

The Executives during the meeting stressed that there was a need for lawyers to uphold the core principles and tenets of the legal profession, insisting that lawyers should not take advantage of economic needs resulting to misconducts.

It was also restated that lawyers should desist from activities that demean the nobility of the profession.

Section 12 of the Legal Practitioners Act provides for which a legal Practitioner can be punished by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee for reasons including; Infamous conduct in any professional respect or being convicted of any crime which is incompatible with the status of a legal practitioner by any court of competent jurisdiction in Nigeria.

The event was followed by a dinner which was hosted by the learned silk, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN.
