Leaked Russian documents have revealed Moscow’s secret plan to weaken Ukraine’s partners and allies in the West, using the ongoing war to develop a new world order free from American hegemony according to The Washington Post.
Russian President, Vladimir Putin released an official foreign policy concept, ‘Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation’ in March 2023.
The 42-page document published by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs was noted to be a ‘defacto handbook for Russian diplomats’ that classified the United States as ‘the greatest threat facing the country’.
What is Putin’s objective ?
According to European intelligence, the leaked document called for an ‘offensive information campaign’ that would include measures spanning ‘the military-political, economic and trade and informational psychological spheres’ against “a coalition of unfriendly countries’.
The document further explains what needed to be done, noting that the outcome of the war in Ukraine would ‘to a great degree determine the outlines of the future world order,’ which may indicate that Russia sees its failure or victory in the conflict as a hinge moment in history for the country.
However, the Russian Foreign Ministry has addressed the leaked document but noted that it could not comment ‘on the existence or nonexistence of internal ministry documents’.
“As we have stated several times on different levels, we can confirm the mood is to decisively combat the aggressive steps taken by the collective West as part of the hybrid war launched against Russia,” the Ministry said.
