English actor Bernard Hill, popularly known for his memorable scenes in the two blockbuster films, Titanic and Lord of the Rings has died at age 79.
This was announced by his agent, Lou Coulson announced on Sunday (5 May).
In Titanic, Hill played Captain Edward Smith, one of the only characters based on a real person in the 1997 tragic. The movie also won 11 Oscars.
In Lord of the Rings, He played Théoden, King of Rohan, reprising the role in Return of the King, a film that won 11 Academy Awards.
The BBC Drama management issues a statement, highlighting his contributions and achievements in the movie industry.
“Bernard Hill blazed a trail across the screen, and his long-lasting career filled with iconic and remarkable roles is a testament to his incredible talent.
“Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this sad time.” said Lindsay Salt, director of BBC Drama.
