Russian television station, Russia 1, has shown pro-Putin propagandists having a field day. The comments made by the Soloviev gang are a direct threat to Russia’s neighbours.
One of the faces of the Russian regime’s disinformation and propaganda, particularly since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, has declared that Moscow needs to regain control over its borders and neighboring territories.
“We need to reclaim a lot more historic land, restore historical fairness… Finland, the Baltic States, everything is ours. Let’s take Alaska too”. He asserted.
Russia 1 is considered to be the official voice of the Kremlin and its master.
Meanwhile, Maria Zakharova, Director and Spokeswoman for Information and Press at the Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the provocative statements.
“So you haven’t played ‘Risk’? The people at Russia 1 certainly have, and they are keeping up the good humour in the eternal game of world domination. The extension of Russia to the former Soviet borders is an ongoing project.” She said.
Recall that the Lithuanian army had carried out manoeuvres in the Baltic Sea as part of operation ‘Steadfast Defender 24′.
“This is an important deterrent exercise,” Lithuanian Defence Minister Laurinas Kasciunas said.
What is Steadfast Defender 24 ?
Steadfast Defender 24 is ‘NATO’s largest military exercise since the Cold War’. It is how the alliance exercises the bond between Europe and North America, aiming to demonstrate that the allies will defend every inch of their territory and ensure protection between member states.
The latest country to conduct military deterrence tasks against Russia is Lithuania, with the support of the United States, the country has launched High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) missiles in the Baltic Sea.
The HIMARS was previously deployed by Ukraine in the war against Russian forces, indicating this maneuvers as a clear warning to Moscow should it have plans to act against the Baltic country.
However, the Spokeswoman for Information and Press at the Russian Foreign Ministry implied the government stance.
“Stay tuned, stay tuned.” She concluded.
Against a backdrop of tensions with Western powers over the conflict in Ukraine, the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, presided over the military parade on Red Square, Moscow on 9 May to commemorate Victory Day, in which more than 9,000 servicemen took part, as well as armoured vehicles, missile launchers and aircraft.
According to Vladimir Putin, Russia’s strategic nuclear forces are still on high alert.
“Russia will do everything in its power to prevent a global confrontation, but at the same time we will not allow anyone to threaten us. Our strategic (nuclear)forces are always on alert”, he stressed.
Mr Putin recently ordered tactical nuclear exercises involving troops stationed near Ukraine, in response to Western ‘threats’ against Russia.
