The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened a nationwide strike to protest the absence of governing councils in all federal universities across Nigeria.
The ASUU President, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke issued the threat at a press briefing at the association national headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
According to him, the federal government has refused to appoint university governing councils since May 2023 when it dissolved the Councils.
Prof. Osodeke also urged Nigerians to demand accountability from the government for any actions it takes in response to the government’s decision.
