The reinstated Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi, has arrived at the Kano State Government House.
Alhaji Sanusi II is to officially receive his appointment letter and resume work as the sole first-class Emir of the state.
The development indicates that the much anticipated event that will usher the Emir to his first outing in the public since his reinstatement is all set.
Sanusi II is expected to be at the Africa House in Kano State Government House for a mini-durbar ceremony by approximately 10am, from where he would proceed to the Nassarawa Emir’s palace, and then to lead the jumu’at (Friday) prayers at the Kano Central mosque located at the palace in Kofar Kudu.
Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II is a member of the Dabo dynasty. He served as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from 2009 to 2014.
In 2020, he was dethroned by then Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and was succeeded by Aminu Ado Bayero.
However, on 23 May 2024, Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf reinstated him to the throne making him the 16th and current emir of Kano.
