President Tinubu agrees to a wage higher than N60,000

Following the back and forth between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Labour unions, President Bola Tinubu has decided to implement a national minimum wage higher than the current proposal of N60,000.

This resolution was part of the key resolutions the Federal Government of Nigeria and Labour unions reached during a meeting held at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has committed to a national minimum wage higher than the current N60,000.” The Minimum Wage Commitment read.

These resolutions were signed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, and the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, as delegates of the Federal Government.

However, the nationwide strike continues pending the outcome of the Tripartite Committee’s deliberations.
