American businessman and attorney, Robert Hunter Biden has been found guilty of the three suits against him in court, bordering over his substance use when purchasing a gun.
A Delaware Jury, after about a week of testimonies and evidences declared the son of US President, Joe Biden guilty and sentenced to prison for his crimes.
Hunter Biden was found guilty of making two false statements when filling out a form to purchase a Colt revolver in October 2018, with the first one being that he was not addicted to drug use, and then declared the statement to be true.
The third charge alleged that he then illegally owned the gun for 11 days, prior to the weapon being disposed by his then lover.
Consequently, the three crimes are considered severe and could amount to sentences of up to 25 years in prison and fines of up to $750,000.
However, Hunter Biden told reporters that despite the judgement, he remains grateful for the support from family and friends, insisting that that was most important for him.
“Recovery is possible by the grace of God, and I am blessed to experience that gift one day at a time.” He said.
Meanwhile, his attorney, Abbe Lowell, in a press conference, said that they were disappointed about the verdict and are still considering legal options in favour of their client.
The sentence after the judgment, usually takes about 120 days so that it would arrive in mid-October, which is also the period of the US presidential election.
Although the crimes are serious, legal analyst believes that Hunter Biden’s sentence would be reduced alongside doubts of a prison sentence.
US President, Joe Biden said in a statement that he would always stand by his son regardless of the sentence, emphasizing that “I will accept the result of the case”.
