Minimum Wage: NLC issues caution against ‘decentralizing salaries’

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has cautioned governors against pushing for decentralised salary for workers.

The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, who spoke with Daily Sun at the 112 International Labour Conference (ILC) in Geneva, Switzerland, stressed that governors should desist from such decisions, “because their own salary are not decentralised.”

According to Ajaero, he is unaware of what the governors imply concerning the decentralisation of wages.

However, in his remarks on the minimum wage negotiations, the NLC leader called the governors hypocrites.

“The governors from states where you even get nothing are still earning the same salary as governors that you’re getting billions from. So, how hypocritical those states governors could be?” He said.
