Joe Biden bows out of 2024 Presidential race

US President Joe Biden has ended his bid for reelection amid concerns and pressure from leaders within his Democrat Party.

This new development would result to an unprecedented political uncertainty with Vice President Kamala Harris seen as the Democrat best placed to replace Biden.

President Biden made this announcement from his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware where he’s self isolated since testing positive for Covid-19.

“It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President.

“And while it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and my country for me to stand down and to focus solely on my duties as President for the rest of my term.” Biden said.

However, Biden on choosing a successor said he would address the nation later this week.

It’s less than 110 days before the 2024 Election Day and more than 30 congressional democrats had called for Biden to drop his bid, with former President Obama signaling a similar position.

Trump has advanced his candidacy more broadly, with his confidence rating growing so quickly and his prospects to defeat Biden increasing.

Meanwhile, Biden becomes the first incumbent president not to seek reelection since Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968.
