Following the commencement of the hunger protests on 1st August 2024, in the nations capital, the Minister, Nyesom Wike has alleged that security forces have identified a sitting Senator as one of the sponsors of the ‘EndBadGovernsnce’ themed protest.
This was revealed in an emergency FCT Security Council meeting during the late hours on Thursday in Abuja.
The meeting was organized to review the situation and discuss ways to address it.
Although the Minister was satisfied with the initial nonviolence, violent clashes eventually escalated when some miscreants attacked properties, set up roadblocks and caused some residents human rights abuses.
Despite the early calls to shelve the protest, due to the fact of national security, activities in most parts of the country were shot down on the first day of the expression.
Reports indicate that the most violent demonstrations came from core northern States.
