In a forceful statement on social media, former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett urged Israel to take decisive military action against Iran, framing it as a rare and critical opportunity to reshape the Middle East.
Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Bennett called for the destruction of Iran’s nuclear facilities, its key energy infrastructure, and the crippling of what he termed the “terrorist regime” in Tehran.
Bennett’s statement comes amid rising tensions in the region, with Iran’s proxy forces, including Hamas and Hezbollah, involved in recent escalations against Israel.
Bennett pointed to these groups as the “tentacles” of Iran’s influence, and stressed that their temporary paralysis provided Israel with the chance to strike directly at the “head” in Tehran.
“We must act now to destroy Iran’s nuclear program, its central energy facilities, and to fatally cripple this terrorist regime,” Bennett wrote.
He added that such action would also offer the Iranian people an opportunity to overthrow a regime he described as tyrannizing its own citizens, particularly women.
The former prime minister’s call for swift action emphasized the devastation inflicted by Iranian-backed groups over the past year, including acts of terror and violence against Israeli civilians.
Bennett invoked the trauma faced by Israel’s population, listing incidents of murder, kidnapping, and attacks on towns, calling it a moment for Israel to reclaim its strength.
Bennett framed the current situation as a unique moment in history for Israel to act, warning that missing this opportunity would be a mistake.
He underscored the unity and strength shown by Israelis in the face of recent attacks and called for swift military action to safeguard the future of the nation.
The statement has already stirred debate within Israel and the broader international community, raising questions about potential escalations in the region.
Bennett’s message has added urgency to the ongoing geopolitical discourse following escalations between the two nations.
