The Imo State Government has officially approved the implementation of the ₦70,000 new minimum wage for workers.
Governor Hope Uzodimma announced the approval on Tuesday afternoon following a meeting with labour leaders at the Government House in Owerri.
The governor emphasized the government’s continued dedication to the welfare of Imo workers and pensioners, stating that the decision is a reaffirmation of the state’s obligation to prioritize their well-being.
“Our commitment as a Government to the welfare of Imo workers and pensioners remains a sacred obligation, and we have exemplified this once more with the approval for the implementation of the national minimum wage of ₦70,000 for Imo State workers,” Governor Uzodimma said.
The governor further explained that the decision was the result of extensive consultations with labour unions in the state, highlighting the state government’s efforts to foster improved living conditions for workers.
In addition to the new minimum wage, the Governor also announced a 10% salary increment for workers on consolidated salary structures, ensuring that salary adjustments are made equitably across all levels of the workforce.
