DSS Arrests Blogger for Fake Recruitment Website Scam

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a blogger, Sylvester Victor Augustus, for allegedly cloning its official website to promote fraudulent recruitment schemes targeting unsuspecting Nigerians.

The 32-year-old suspect, a resident of Akpan Eno Lane in Abak, Akwa Ibom State, was apprehended on Thursday following a thorough investigation.

Augustus, who claims to be a University of Uyo graduate, reportedly created a counterfeit DSS website and published fake recruitment notices to lure victims into his scam.

In a statement, the DSS condemned the fraudulent activities and urged the public to verify information through official channels.

The agency reiterated its commitment to combating online fraud and warned against falling prey to similar schemes.

The DSS also revealed that investigations are ongoing into other individuals linked to similar cybercrimes, with those arrested already facing prosecution in courts across the country.

Meanwhile, Nigerians are encouraged to report suspicious online activities to the authorities to help curb digital fraud.
