Sen. Ndume rejects recent appointment from Senate

Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume has opened up after his recent removal as the Senate’s Chief Whip.

Ndume rejected his appointment as chairman of the Senate Committee on Tourism on Friday in his country home at Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday appointed Ndume as chairman on Tourism during a minor committee reshuffling.

However, Ndume rejected the appointment, insisting that he lacked the requisite experience and exposure to lead such a sensitive position.

He further stated that after a review of the circumstances surrounding his removal, his statements couldn’t have resulted to his sack, adding that after being the leader in the eight Senate, he didn’t opt to be Chief Whip.

On the matter of resigning from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sen. Ndume said that he was one of the twenty-two senators from the PDP that formed the APC when the party’s current national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje was a deputy governor in Kano State.

According to him, the same way he informed his people of his decision to join the APC, he will do the same before deciding on whether to leave the APC or not.
