President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged state governors to promptly implement wage awards with the aim to ‘alleviate economic hardships’.
The President expressed this during a working visit to Minna, the Niger State capital on Monday, stating that such actions would help alleviate hardship and offer reliefs in the country.
He also outlined plans for a comprehensive livestock program to transform challenges into economic opportunities.
Meanwhile, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, noted the state’s commitment to agricultural development and its role in achieving national food security.
Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State were among the governors at the event.
“I have been paying wage award pending the determination of the new minimum wage. Let all the sub-nationals start paying that. The wage award with whatever they are taking now, will relieve the public.
“I am not giving an order, I am appealing to you sub-nationals. It’s a relief to the people.” The President said.
