The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori has paid a visit to President Bola Tinubu over the massacre that occurred in Okuoma, a community in the state.
Saharan daily recalls that 17 military personnel comprising a lieutenant colonel, two majors, one captain, and 12 soldiers were killed while on a “peacekeeping mission” in the community.
While the government has condemned the incident, the governor went further by paying the Presidential Villa a visit.
The Governor had promised that the perpetrators of such a crime would face the wrath of the law.
Briefing State House correspondents after meeting behind closed-doors with the President, the governor said that the situation is under control, assuring that there will be no further attacks.
The governor declined to confirm the reports of reprisal attacks allegedly carried out by the military, insisting that there are certain things he cannot say in the public.
He specified that he met with the security heads in Bomadi on Monday but has been unable to meet with the community.
